"Moulin Rouge" truly was a "spectacular spectacular" when it dropped in 2001. That's why on Monday (May 2) MTV News is remembering the film a decade later with "Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event." Director Baz Luhrmann will be on hand to recall making the over-the-top film, which resurrected pop culture's love of musicals. And adding to the many celebrity fans who've described the film's influence on them, Adam Lambert spoke to MTV News about his love for "Moulin Rouge."

"I remember just loving it. I thought it was novel. First of all, movie musicals were just starting to come back and I thought it was really interesting to have a movie musical using already existing pop music," he explained. "That's kind of an amazing collaboration. Usually it's all original music or it's based on a Broadway musical, but this was using songs that we all know and tying them into the story. I thought it was really groundbreaking."

Other celebs who have recalled their fond feelings for the flick and its director include Joe Jonas, Vanessa Hudgens and Blake Lively.

MTV News will reunite Luhrmann, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor today at 3 p.m. ET on MTV.com. The director and actors will be joined by co-star John Leguizamo, who played artist Toulouse-Lautrec, and Catherine Martin, who won the Oscar for costume design and art direction. Hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz, the live stream will include special appearances and live interviews while looking back at how the film came to be and how its legacy continues to grow.

Don't miss "Moulin Rouge at 10: A Spectacular Spectacular MTV News Event" today at 3 p.m. ET on MTV.com! Get in the conversation by tweeting @MTVNews with the hashtag #AskMoulin.

Katy Perry: "I Didn't Have a Childhood"

Katy Perry: "I Didn't Have a Childhood"

Looking at Katy Perry on the cover of the new Vanity Fair, you'd never think she was brought up in a very religious home with born-again Christian parents. But the sexy pin-up girl says her parents were so religious that she wasn't even allowed to use the words "deviled eggs" or "Dirt Devil" in her home.

"I didn't have a childhood," Perry, 26, says in the magazine.

But the "Supernatural" singer says that her parents have become much more tolerant as they've all gotten older. "We coexist," she says. "I don't try to change them anymore, and I don't think they try to change me. We agree to disagree."

Perry's mom even revealed that she knew her daughter would become a great success before she even took her first breath.

"The Lord told us when I was pregnant with her that she would do this," Perry's mom says.

As accepting as her parents have become, it still had to be quite the adjustment for them to accept raunchy comedian Russell Brand, who Katy married in October 2010.

"I have always been the kid who's asked 'Why?'" she explains. "In my faith, you're just supposed to have faith. At this point, I'm just kind of a drifter. I'm open to possibility ... My sponge is so big and wide and I'm soaking everything up and my mind has been radically expanded."

Recently the tabloids tried to throw a wrench into the couple's happy marriage by reporting that Perry was cheating -- but the couple's faith in each other never faltered.

"The press is just not your friend when it comes to a marriage," Perry says. "That's why we didn't sell the pictures of our wedding, and we got offered millions of dollars for them, millions."

She refuses to let the naysayers take the wind out of her very big sails.

"I don't care what people say about my relationship; I don't care what they say about my boobs. People are buying my songs; I have a sold-out tour. I'm getting incredible feedback from my music."

And if you think you've seen it all from this crazy-talented woman, just wait.

"My career is like an artichoke," Perry says. "People might think that the leaves are tasty and buttered up and delicious, and they don't even know that there's something magical hidden at the base of it. There's a whole other side (of me) that people didn't know existed."

Tamar Braxton Talks Her Nose Job, Being Jealous Of Toni, & Rumors Of Marrying Only For Money

"Braxton Family Values" has been a much more intriguing show than I thought it would be.  And I haven't missed an episode yet.  Much of that is thanks to the youngest sister, Tamar "ItsAllAboutMe.com" Braxton.  So our friends over at BlackEnterprise.com caught up with her to clear up some of the rumors surrounding her suspiciously surgically enhanced face, her multi-million dollar marriage, and how she really feels about her big sis Toni.

After the last couple of episodes, Tamar and her divalicious, fast talking, nose job loving, obnoxiously loud, and sometimes inappropriateness was in full throttle.  So far on the show, she's called out all her sisters for staying with their cheating ass moochin' husbands, her sis Trina for gaining weight, her sis Traci for being a "hoodrat," and Toni for being a scene stealer. And loves to flaunt her money (thanks to her husband) in their faces.

Chick still has this hope of being a superstar to make her own millions, instead of just spending her husband (above) Vince's (manager to Toni and one of the heads of Lady Gaga's career) money.  And she made it very clear that she's tired of living in Toni's shadow.  And her hubby is her "homie"--and she "doesn't think of him like that" when it comes to making babies.  (Yes, she really said that).  But according to Tamar--who is hilarious to us--we've got her all wrong.  Here's a few excerpts from her recent sit-down with BlackEnterprise.com:

You’ve been candid about feeling like you’re living in Toni ’s shadow and some perceive that as jealousy. What do you say to those critics?

This whole jealousy thing is ridiculous! Toni works really, really hard. I’m proud of her, not jealous of her. I don’t even want to be the same kind of artist. I care about my sisters and I’m so passionate about everything—especially them—so when people see me going off, it’s just my emotions. I want to see them win and be happy. Sometimes I feel like I want to learn from them rather than them learning things from me all the time. I know a lot of things I say are things my sisters don’t want to hear from their youngest sibling, but I say them.

Public perception is that you are in a loveless marriage and that you are only with your producer husband, Vince, for personal gain. What do you say to those naysayers?

Absolutely ridiculous! I find it highly offensive because me and my husband dated each other for seven years, but we’ve only been married for [a little more than] two years. I mean, who’s gonna be with someone just 'cause they got some money and be miserable? I ain’t doing that! If I didn’t love my husband for who he is, then why do I want to work and have my own career? That doesn’t even make any sense. Me and Vince are regular. Some days we cool, some days we want to pull each other’s hair out, but that’s real life because [two people] are not going to agree on everything. It also depends on what your definition of love is, it’s different things for different people. Some people think hugging and kissing someone in public all the time is love, but when Vince told me [thatsthetruth.com], it was out of love because he didn’t want me looking crazy, throwing temper tantrums without understanding that there’s an order to things in this business.

What about plastic surgery? You’re an advocate for people having it if they want to. Is there any surgery you haven’t or wouldn’t have done?

I believe in plastic surgery or anything you have to do to make yourself feel good. I’m all about self-esteem. I’ve had my nose done. I was born without cartilage in my nose and when I was 16 I had my first operation—an implant put in my nose. My father had the same surgery. The reason I had it done was because it was hard for me to breathe and I snored terribly. Itwasnotcute.org (laughs). Eventually the implant gave me headaches, so I had to have the cartilage from my ear put in my nose. I have to have it done for a second time, remove the cartilage and remove the implant, but it’s so painful that I’ve been putting it off. But I have to have it done.

Peep the full interview over at BE.  Hilarious.  "Braxton Family Values" airs Tuesdays on We.

Obama Opts Against Osama Death Photo Release

After much thought and careful consideration, President Barack Obama has decided to not release any photos surrounding the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Breaking reports tell that the decision came after a lengthy discussion with top Cabinet and security officials.

"This is somebody deserving of the justice he received," Obama said in an interview with ?60 Minutes.? "But we don't need to spike the football."

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney reassured to press, "There is no question at all that Osama bin Laden is dead. He will not walk this Earth again."

He recently took his lady Ellen Whitaker on a trip to Hollywood, and Henry Cavill surprised her with a marriage proposal.

The ?Superman? stud reportedly asked Ellen?s father Stephen for permission to marry his daughter before the big moment.

And of course, Whitaker, a British athlete, was thrilled to pieces at the proposal and immediately accepted.

Ellen told press, "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."

Will 'Twilight Saga: Eclipse' Rule The 2011 MTV Movie Awards?

MTV News examines the flick's chances by taking a look at Movie Awards history.

"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is nominated for eight MTV Movie Awards, eclipsing the competition and leading the (wolf) pack as the most nominated film at this year's show.

With so many chances to take home some Golden Popcorn come Sunday, June 5, things look pretty good for "Eclipse," especially considering the franchise's Movie Awards history. Let's take a look at their 2011 prospects:

Best Movie
The competition: "Eclipse" is up against "Black Swan," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1," "Inception" and "The Social Network."

Has "Twilight" won before?: Yes. In 2009, "Twilight" took home the prize, and in 2010, "New Moon" won. Will the streak stay alive for a third year? That's up to fans.

Best Female Performance
The competition: Kristen Stewart is up against Emma Stone ("Easy A"), Emma Watson ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1"), Jennifer Aniston ("Just Go With It") and Natalie Portman ("Black Swan").

Has "Twilight" won before?: KStew won in 2009 and 2010 and has her eye on the threepeat.

Best Male Performance
The competition: Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are up against Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1"), Jesse Eisenberg ("The Social Network") and Zac Efron ("Charlie St. Cloud").

Has "Twilight" won before?: In 2009, no one from "Twilight" was nominated, and Zac Efron took it home for "High School Musical 3." In 2010, both guys were nominated and RPattz won (he also took home the Global Superstar award). Could this be Taylor's year?

Best Breakout Star
The competition: Xavier Samuel is up against Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network"), Chloë Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass"), Hailee Steinfeld ("True Grit"), Jay Chou ("The Green Hornet") and Olivia Wilde ("Tron Legacy").

Has "Twilight" won before?: In 2009, RPattz won the then-gender-specific Breakthrough Male Performance award. In 2010, "Twilight" castmate Anna Kendrick won for her work in "Up in the Air." Perhaps some of that luck will rub off on Xavier?

Best Fight
The competition: Robert Pattinson's fight vs. Bryce Dallas Howard and Xavier Samuel is up against Amy Adams vs. the Sisters ("The Fighter"), Chloë Grace Moretz vs. Mark Strong ("Kick-Ass"), Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint vs. Death Eaters ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1") and Joseph Gordon-Levitt vs. Hallway Attacker ("Inception").

Has "Twilight" won before?: Cam Gigandet and Pattinson's big fight won in 2009, but "The Twilight Saga" wasn't nominated last year, when Beyoncé and Ali Larter took it home for "Obsessed." Perhaps voters will declare vamp fights the new catfights in 2011.

Best Kiss
The competition: Kristen Stewart's kiss with Robert Pattinson and her smooch with Taylor Lautner are up against Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis ("Black Swan"), Ellen Page and Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("Inception") and Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1").

Has "Twilight" won before?: KStew and RPattz have ruled this category for two years running. Maybe fans will give the Bella and Jacob love a little shine at the 2011 Movie Awards.
