Will Beyonce's 4 Be #1 Again?

Experts think B needs a hit single soon, but her latest album seems poised to top the charts again next week.
By Jocelyn Vena

As a contender for 2011 Summer Diva, Beyoncé is certainly making great strides to rule the airwaves this summer. After B's fourth solo LP, 4, debuted at #1 last week, it's looking likely that she'll top the charts on next week's Billboard albums chart as well.

A rep for SoundScan hadn't responded to MTV News' request for an exact number of units expected to be sold by next week, but Billboard is reporting that a lack of high-powered new releases should secure a repeat top spot for Beyoncé's latest.

The buzz around B and the album will probably only continue to grow, since she's slated to debut a video for her next single, "Best Thing I Never Had," very soon. But her album's success comes as a bit of a surprise, seeing as "Run the World (Girls)" nor any other single has really resonated with fans or radio so far.

"Beyoncé, I love her, but none of her singles thus far off 4 seem poised to be doing huge numbers," Perez Hilton told MTV News.

But we should not count B out in the singles department just yet, Us Weekly senior music editor Ian Drew said.

"You've got to remember that Beyoncé, being typical Beyoncé, her albums generally are anchored by really big hits; this album doesn't have those hits yet," Drew told MTV News. "It's not to say that it won't. There are some very strong songs on the album, but they have not been released yet. There are those songs on it, but they have not come out yet and they haven't struck yet. Beyoncé is coming out at a time when radio is very crowded."

Despite those obstacles, B is definitely marching to the beat of her own drummer. "She's going in a different direction," Drew said. "She's taking control of her own career."

Britney Spears, Taking Back Sunday Video Worlds Collide Thanks To Director

Chris Marrs Piliero explains why the cat in 'Faith (When I Let You Down)' comes across an Easter egg from 'I Wanna Go.
By Jocelyn Vena

Taking Back Sunday's video for "Faith (When I Let You Down)" is a social commentary about the fleeting nature of Internet fame, as illustrated by a fake cat trying to make it in Hollywood. It also happens to be the latest installment in the kooky videography of music video auteur Chris Marrs Piliero.

"It was an idea that I had floating around in my head, and when I listened to the song ... the meaning of the song clicked in my brain," the director said of the clip, which follows his cheeky video for Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go."

"People just love cat videos," he explained. "And I just thought it would be fun to see what it would like if a cat had the brain to be like, 'Sh--, I'm a big deal.' "

In the video, Taking Back Sunday post a clip of their cat online, and soon "OMG, WTF TBS Cat" goes viral. The cat eventually hops on a bus to L.A. (with a quick nod to Guns N' Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"), finds fame, disses the TBS guys, fails to make it as an actor, winds up in porn and eventually can't handle the pressure. Then, of course, TBS Cat heads back home.

Was that cat as difficult in real life as he was in the video?

"I was like halfway into the shoot, and he was throwing out demands," Piliero recalled, laughing. "It got to the point where no one was allowed to make eye contact with him on set. I had to sit him down and have a heart to heart with him."

Along with the GNR homage and a few other pop-culture references, the video includes a cute Easter egg for Britney fans: One of TBS cat's discarded audition scripts is for the fantasy Spears sequel, "Crossroads 2: Cross Harder," which is also on the marquee in "I Wanna Go."

"I made the TBS video right after the Britney video," he said. "I felt like the cat could exist in the same world as the 'I Wanna Go' world, so I thought it would be a fun little Easter egg. Also, [frontman] Adam [Lazzara] from TBS texted me after watching the Britney video, and I didn't even realize that during the paparazzi fight when she swings the mic around — that is something that Adam does all the time, which is something I was very conscious of — but I didn't realize the scene happened in front of a store called Keaton's, and his son is called Keaton!"

'Dark Knight Rises' Poster: First Look!

Debris rains down what appear to be crumbling Gotham City buildings in first poster from Christopher Nolan's Batman threequel.
By Eric Ditzian

In December 2009, a teaser poster for Christopher Nolan's "Inception" hit the Web. It featured a row of skyscrapers looming above disastrous floodwaters and the promise that the sci-fi flick was the brainchild of "the director of 'The Dark Knight.' "

That image, it seems, became something of an inspiration for the brand-new teaser poster for Nolan's third "Batman" film, "The Dark Knight Rises." The new poster focuses on another collection of buildings, presumably in Bruce Wayne's hometown, Gotham City. And once again, there is an ominous air of destruction in the urban environment: The buildings appear to be crumbling, debris raining downward — a stark visual contrast to the film title's single tweak since the previous installment: the addition of the word "rises."

None of this is to suggest the "Dark Knight Rises" poster is some "Inception" knock-off; Nolan's beloved "Batman" films hardly need to draft off his Oscar-nominated 2010 dream-heist flick. There are, of course, as many differences as there are similarities between the two. First and foremost, in the "Dark Knight Rises" poster, the tops of the buildings outline the unmistakable form of Batman's symbol. And whereas Leonardo DiCaprio is front and center in the "Inception" poster (and up to his knees in flood waters), Christian Bale as Batman or Bruce Wayne is nowhere to be seen in the new poster.

For now, the only person we've officially seen in character is Tom Hardy as Bane. In May, a photo of Bane — shot from behind, a menacing mask over his head — popped up online after Warner Bros. launched a viral marketing campaign.

The poster debut comes just days before we're reportedly set to get our first glimpse of the "Dark Knight Rises" teaser trailer, which is supposed to debut in front of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," when it opens on Friday. With a reported running time of one minute and 33 seconds, hopefully, there will be peeks not only at Bane in motion, but Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle (and possibly in full Catwoman gear). But who knows? Production only kicked off in May, so it's anybody's guess how much footage Nolan will deliver in the trailer. If the first "Inception" trailer is any indication, we'll peep a lot of footage, but likely remain clueless as to what the whole freaking thing is about. And that's just how we like it.

Check out everything we've got on "The Dark Knight Rises."

How Harper Seven Beckham Got Her "Lucky" Name

How Harper Seven Beckham Got Her "Lucky" Name

As celebrity baby names go (hi, Apple!), David and Victoria Beckham have picked a fairly "normal" name for their brand new baby daughter, Harper Seven. But where did the parents of Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6, get their inspiration?

According to People.com, Harper is an old English name that Victoria has always loved, and seven is, of course, considered a very lucky number. But, in addition to it being the number high rollers are hoping for, seven seems to be the digit that was meant for this little lady.

Harper Seven was born Sunday morning in L.A.'s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center weighing 7 lbs. (and 10 oz.) in the seventh hour in the seventh month -- on the seventh day of the week. It was also her dad's jersey number when he played soccer for the Manchester United and the English national team.

With two gorgeous celebrity parents, there's no doubt that Harper is blessed -- and we're hoping her lucky name provides her with even more good fortune.
